Google announces budget Chromebooks running on ChromeOS
Google just launched a slew of budget Chromebooks which run on its ChromeOS platform. These include traditional Chromebooks, a touch-enabled 2-in-1 as well as a compact HDMI stick which is compatible with any display.
The first, Asus Chromebook Flip has been described as a ‘premium metal’ device. It will sport a keyboard as well as a 10.1-inch touchscreen. This screen can be folded backwards and then be used as a tablet. It will begin selling in the US in two months at a price of $ 249 (roughly Rs 15,525). It runs on a Rockchip 3288 processor with four ARM Cortex A17 cores, and is touted to come with 10 hours of battery life. It will also have 16GB storage.
Google has also announced two more traditional Chromebooks. The two models have been built by Hisense and Haier. These are also based on ARM Cortex-A17 processors. Both will come with 11.6-inch screens, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, and microSD card. The battery life is expected to be 10 hours for the Haier model and 8.5 hours for the Hisense device. These two are now available in the US via Amazon and Walmart.
