Wisler was considered the Padres’ top prosect by Baseball America before being traded Sunday. Wisler, who is also considered a top-100 prospect by Baseball America (No. 34) and MLB.com (No. 69), is 25-15 with a 3.40 ERA in 396 2/3 innings in the minors.

Huston Street still waiting to hear from Angels about extension
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

(2:53 pm ET) Angels pitcher Huston Street hoped to get a contract extension completed during the offseason. Instead, on Opening Day, he’s still waiting to hear back from the team, per the Orange County Register

Street currently has a $ 7 million contract for this year. He was hoping to extend it by three years, for a total value (including 2015) of $ 36 to $ 46 million.

Street is negotiating on his own, without an agent, and hasn’t heard anything from the Angels on the contract’s status. He refused to talk to the media about it on Monday and earlier said he wouldn’t negotiate during the season.

Angels general manager Jerry DiPoto said that there was no deadline for negotiations, and the two sides will continue to talk with a deal “still possible”, per the Los Angeles Times.

Twins unsure when Ervin Santana will train with team
by Sean d’Oliveira | CBSSports.com

(2:49 pm ET) With Twins pitcher Ervin Santana suspended for the first 80 games of the season, general manager Terry Ryan said he was unsure how long Santana would remain in Florida to train at the team’s Fort Myers facility.

“I’m not sure exactly when he’ll go back,” Ryan said. “Intermittently, I suspect he’ll be down there.”

Ryan added that the team will not treat Santana’s suspension as a disabled list stint and Santana will work to maintain his skills.

“We are going to deal with it,” Ryan said. “There’s nothing right now I can tell you that I can do about it other than the fact that we made some roster moves here, which I didn’t anticipate. You’ve got to face the accountability as an organization and as a player, and that’s what we’re doing.”

Red Sox RF Shane Victorino starting against old team
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

(2:38 pm ET) Shane Victorino won the Red Sox starting right field job, and he’ll get the chance to start the season against his old team.

“There was a date on my calendar that I circled, that I wanted to be here for and be healthy, more importantly, and that was today here in Philadelphia,” Victorino said, per the Boston Herald. “It’s going to be emotional for me.”

Victorino made a successful recovery from last August’s back surgery. Victorino knows he needs to stay healthy and perform in order to keep his starting job.

“We have a great outfield, a lot of depth, and I understand that,” he said. “For me to get the nod on Opening Day in right field is a big testament to the manager, the organization, for having faith in me.”

Led by Mookie Betts, Red Sox will steal more bases in 2015
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

(2:34 pm ET) Mookie Betts will start the season as the Red Sox leadoff hitter, and his impact will be felt throughout the batting order.

“He’s a unique guy, an extremely talented guy and we’re really looking forward to him setting the tone for us at the top of the lineup,” manager John Farrell said, per the Boston Herald.

Behind Betts, the Red Sox will be more aggressive on the basepaths. He stole seven bases in a brief appearance in the Majors last year, to go with his 33 steals in the minors. The Red Sox stole 63 bases last season and were thrown out attempting to steal 25 times, a success rate so low that Farrell gave the entire team the red light for one portion of the season.

“I think the best way to describe it is we’ll always look to be opportunistic,” Farrell said. “I think it’s important to set the tone and push the envelope against the opposition. Part of that is personnel related.”

Farrell compared Betts to Jacoby Ellsbury, who stole 50 bases for the Sox two years ago.

Reds targeting April 17-19 series for Homer Bailey’s return
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

(2:27 pm ET) Reds starting pitcher Homer Bailey (elbow) is on track to come off the disabled list during a three-game series at St. Louis from April 17-19, manager Bryan Price said Monday.

Bailey, who is on the 15-day disabled list, will throw a simulated game Monday. If all goes well, he will make a rehab start Sunday.

“That’s what we anticipate, as you guys know, when it comes to injured guys, it’s always day to day, but we’ve optimistically laid out a format for Homer, but certainly he has to get through the next two starts before we can sign off on his activation,” Price said, per the Cincinnati Enquirer.
